The Valencia CF coach talks after the 2-2 result against Deportivo Alavés
Valencia CF, reiterating the club’s commitment to condemning racism and joining actions to help eradicate it, have once again joined up with MatchWornShirt, holding a charity auction with the proceeds going towards promoting integration, education in values and combating bullying and racism. To contribute to this cause, the players will donate the shirts they wear in the match against RCD Espanyol on Sunday, May 28th.
The Cruz Roja (Red Cross) migrant project will receive a donation on behalf of Valencia CF from the auction. In Spain, the charity has more than 263,000 volunteers responding in more than 6,500 municipalities, which annually serve more than 12.2 million people at national level and have more than 13.4 million people as beneficiaries on an international level.
Valencia CF have collaborated with the Spanish police force to identify three fans who made racist insults towards Vinícius Jr. in the game against Real Madrid, and these people have already been arrested and will be banned for life from Mestalla.
Reaffirming the need to eradicate any racist actions, the club will allocate all the proceeds from this charity action to the Cruz Roja program that ensures opportunities and action in the event of any incident related to migrants, as well as raising awareness in society about inequality in opportunities and the need to put an end to racism.
The Red Cross represents the largest humanitarian, civic and independent movement in the world. It has been collaborating with public and private entities for 159 years so that humanity and dignity reach all people in any place and at all times, in all circumstances. Cruz Roja belongs to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement present in 192 countries. This has seven Fundamental Principles: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Volunteering, Unity and Universality.
